"I am told to tell you something!" The Magpie's dress smelled of musty lavender, its fragrance enveloping Meggie in a suffocating threat. "Should you fail to do what Capricorn asks, should it occur to you to stumble over the words on purpose, or distort them so the guest Capricorn is expecting does not come, then..." Mortola paused and Meggie felt the old woman's breath on her cheek. "Cockerell will cut the old man's throat. Capricorn may not give the order himself, because he believes the stupid lies the old man told him, but I don't, and Cockerell will do as I say. Understand me, my little cherub?" (pg502)
To help keep from ruining the ending of the book to the readers of these reviews, I will tell you what you need to know. There are only a select few who can read things aloud and the things which they read come to life, Mo, Meggie's father, is captured by Capricorn just like the rest of the family. There is only two copies of Inkheart in the book left, and Capricorn has them, and plans to deceive his enemies, by unleashing a horrible demon-like creature, that can destroy anyone or anything in it's way. Throughout the last chapters, the readers get closure to some of the unanswered questions, and learn about reasons for the villainous actions displayed by the protagonists.
