Secrets can create the valuable traits of trustworthiness, and honesty. People tell you secrets, and assume that you will keep them no matter how good or bad they might be. As you make your way down the road of secrecy, you are told secrets and some can start to tear you apart. Some secrets are secrets for reasons that may be unknown to the person being told the secret, and it may be best kept as a secret too. Secrets are also a sign of friendship, letting someone inside your comfort zone and telling them your deep feelings.
Not all secrets that are told to you are good ones. Certain secrets that contain abuse, drugs, sexual, or anything that doesn't seem right. If your friend told you a secret 'promise that you won't tell anyone. Okay. So everyday when I go home from school I do my homework, then some chores, and after my father beats me.' You say something like ' you need to call the police', but then your friend says, 'but you promised. And my bruises aren't that bad.' The reason it feels wrong for you not to get your friend help is because you love them, and you know you need to get them help but you promised. This kind of promise is one you shouldn't keep, because one day you might be going to the funeral thinking it was all your fault for not doing anything.
Secrets create a bond between everyone; it starts at a young age and even until you get old. the secrets where someone is like 'I like so and so' is one you can keep without feeling horrible about. We all have many secrets, thousands of them, some we forget about, some we are reminded everyday of them. New secrets are made everyday, and some secrets are even broken and gossiped everyday.
